This painting draws inspiration from my practice of bringing awareness to daily tasks that I am often guilty of performing on autopilot. Combing my hair. Brushing my teeth. Walking to work. Left, right, left. It’s automatic. Its routine. However, when I started bringing awareness to these little tasks, they became more enjoyable. Noticing these subtleties in the present moment activates your senses. Be aware. Be present. Be Un-Zombie.
Avant Venus is an avant-garde take on Botticelli's 'The Birth of Venus'. The newly born goddess Venus, although not represented figuratively, is born into an abstract, mythological world. The sea, the shore, and her golden hair are represented through vivid and pastel colours. This work invites us to gaze closer, finding warmth and beauty in the unknown.
This painting represents the gradual process of feeding and nurturing the mind through the practice of mindfulness. The journey is slow and patience is key. The skill takes time to develop. But over time, like anything you feed, grows and flourishes
